Hardfork scheduled for July 26th affects payout on commenting and makes 2 payout windows

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

New hardfork has been announced and looks like it decreases our payout on a post if we comment on more then 4 articles a day. I was reading through and looks like anyone who comments on every single article, won't get the payout they get now if you comment more then 4 times a day on articles. And we are moving to a 12 hour payout period so we have 12 hours to get a payout on a post, but we get another payout in 30 days if the post becomes more popular later on and a lot of people like it a week or two weeks later we can get paid up to 30 days after the curation now looks like. I have the post here you can read.

Also read this post on Steemit that goes over it in more detail.

4 comment posts in 24 hours?? This is so low. I love commenting and letting people know they are doing a good job. I get it there are spammers right now, but if we want to compete with something like a reddit community 4 comments is absurdly low. Why not leave it up to the people to decide whether a comment is spam or not?

us want to turn into a social network of borg :)

The change is only for the reward for top-level posts, not comments. The reward after 4 top-level posts will be decreased, but the reward for comments are unaffected by the volume of posts (or comments).

"Comments are not affected by the posting reward rate limiting algorithm."

Good to know. The post on Steemd.com makes it sound like any comments. But if it is only for posts in the top charts this makes more sense now. They don't want people just commenting on every single post in the top charts.

Ya that's what I thought! I had read somewhere too that comments will be unaffected by this. Just imagine being able to comment 4 times per day!! HAHAHAH

There are literally 5 threads tracking this right now and not a single one of them from anyone on the dev team.
I've made my thoughts known in one of them, but I completely agree with the sentiment in here, that limiting user posting to 4x daily is about as smart as checking your gas tank my striking a match.

Hope you don't mind but I'm passing this particular meme on and would like it to become a symbol of our displeasure at the current direction things have been heading.

p.s. As much as I hate memes, it does seem to be moderately effective at getting attention for some reason. We really do need to do something about that.

Thank you for sharing, this is good to know.

why not restrict posting to a 10minute break period, this should prevent spamming and impuls submissions.

totally agree. This is real simple and ingenious solution.
but the developers did not want to ...
