3D Printing Some More Steemit Tokens (You Can 3D Print Your Own)

Yesterday I've made a 3D Printable STEEMIT Logo Token that everyone with a 3D printer can download and print along with some tips. Since then I have been playing around a bit 3D printing some more Steemit Tokens with different color combinations and you can see the results on the image above.

I have some more ideas to try and also more single color prints using different materials. Do note that these were printed on a MakerBot Replicator 2 3D printer that has a single extruder, but is capable of printing simpler stuff with two or even more colors, though it requires you to pause printing and change the filament and then resume. I have described the trick used for the two color prints of the tokens in the linked post above.

In the previous post there was a question about 3D printing the Steemit token with ABS instead of PLA filament (all of the above tokens were printed with PLA), so I have also tried 3D printing using ABS material. On the photo with the three tokens above the black and the white one are single color PLA prints while the grey in the middle is made with ABS filament.

There is almost no difference between PLA and ABS prints of the token in terms of quality, however ABS is harder to handle and print and is more demanding for the 3D printer (it needs a heated build plate) while PLA is easier to work with, so you might want to stick printing with PLA though ABS should work fine if your 3D printer is capable of using that material as well.

I have already printed over 10 different tokens while playing around and more are on the way, so I think that I'll be giving them away to friends and when they ask what is steemit I'll explain and invite them to try it.
