The diary game || I was invited as a guest by Tabish Hashmi to his standup comedy show

What are heroes? What does a person learn from a hero? Everyone has a different definition of a hero. For some people its a person who they have looked up to since childhood. For some, it's and occupational term, for instance, any pilot. For some people it's someone who earns more. The point being, that a hero is a different person for everyone out there.

Since childhood, I have been that jolly guy who makes other people laugh. Not being too narcissistic but I have an on point spontaneous comedy game. I can turn any situation into a hilarious one and it has cost me big time in some cases. But, I can't help it. It's like there's a whole section in my brain, which makes up jokes and and funny situations. It's a funny place, my head. So with this personality I have always looked upto stand up comedians a lot. Then be it Trevor Noah, Ronny Cheing, Zakir khan, Kevin Hart, Gad Elmaleh, Akbar Chaudhary or Tabish Hashmi. These are few of my favorites. Honestly, I have thought a lot about being a standup comedian and maybe I might give it a try sometime. Let's see.

Recently, I was invited as a guest to a comedy show by Tabish Hashmi. I couldn't believe it at first. Being invited at one of your favorite comedians' show was an unbelievable thing for me. It took me a couple of minutes to process, when I first received the invite. I checked it's authenticity and then ofcourse agreed to it. I wouldn't have turned it away in my wildest dreams. So in this post, I'll be writing down my experience of attending my first ever standup comedy show and that too by one of my favorite artists.

TABISH HASHMI AT CLUB 432

Located in Defence phase 5, I was the only one who arrived on a motorcycle to this club. The rest of the audience were in cars. I entered the club, which was located under ground. I wasn't expecting it to be that crowded but it was houseful. As soon as I entered the guards stopped me and asked for a pass, ofcourse I didn't have one, so I called Usama Khan Ghauri, who works with Tabish Hashmi. He came to my assistance and told the guards that I was a guest. Getting inside, I was seated in the front row, Right at the step of the stage so that the comedians were literally standing at my face. Now, if you're at any other event, it's a good place to sit as you're at front, but in a comedy show it's not a good idea to be in the front row as the comedians usually take a dig on people sitting at front. I realized this mid-show.

The show started at 9 pm and was being hosted by Namrah Sikander. Please, I ask you to not term me as a misogynist or a sexist when I say that the female gender doesn't know how to be funny. I mean it. It was so awful to look at this female comedian. I have got absolutely nothing against her to be honest, but every female comedian I have ever listened to is awful, it's embarrassing honestly. Anyway, she was hosting this show and there were 4 stand up comedians who were there in the club. The first one to get on stage was Ajmal Zubair.

Too good. He is an aspiring comedian but he was exceptional. He had a skit of 30 minutes and he nailed it. The crowd was cheering when he stepped off the stage. It was good to feel a bit refreshed after a tiring day at the hospital. The next in line was Ali Asghar Kapasi.

He was as good as his predecessor. He had original jokes which were executed brilliantly. Similar to Ajmal, he had a skit of 30 minutes as well. The next one in line was Usama Khan Ghauri.

I have listened to a lot of Usama's comedy and he didn't disappoint me at all. He was extremely funny and on point. He chose to narrate an original poem that he wrote taking a dig at all the universities in Karachi. It was awesome. Noww. The hour had arrived, the guy all had been waiting for was next in line. Yes, I'm talking about Tabish Ali Hashmi.

When I say he's a motivation to me, I mean it. From a common man studying in an average university to becoming a national star. There's one thing that I don't agree with when it comes to his comedy and that is his double meaninf jokes. I mean comedy can still be done in a more family oriented way where there are no dirty or double meaninf jokes. Two such examples are Moin Akhtar Anwer Maqsood. Literal Pakistani legends. No one comes close.

Anyway, Tabish knows how to interact with the crowd. He knows how to engage with them. He was exceptional. Brilliant, in short. He started with his original jokes from his time in University and then in Canada. After he gave the a funny touch to the criteria of selection in the Army, since he belongs to an Army family and was rejected twice in the exam. It was so refreshing to be there and listen to his jokes. His wife was sitting right next to us in the front row and she wasn't laughing a lot. I wonder that's because she's used to all of this xD

Anyway, Tabish even took a dig at me when he made fun of me but I didn't mind ofcourse, as I knew I had signed up for this coming to this show. His show carried on for more than 90 minutes and there wasn't a single moment where the crowd wasn't laughing.

After the show, I was invited backstage where I took pictures with all the comedians and met their families. I realized they are normal people like us. People who want to make others laugh have make a living out of this. I conversed with Tabish about w lot of things and asked for a couple of advices as well. After that I invited him to come live with me on my Facebook page to which he agreed as well. Let's see how it goes.

It was an epic night, which I enjoyed a lot and I learned a lot. I learned that no matter what, you have stay confident and have absolute trust in yourself and your abilities. With that being said, I'll end this post with a meme.

That was all from my side, I hope you enjoyed it. There's one more thing that I want to add and that is, if you really want to do something in life, go for it. Even if you fail, at least you won't regret it and won't be blaming anyone else.
Thank you.
