Steemit Iron Chef 2017 #12 : Cauliflower Falafel Balls
Cauliflower Falafel Balls
It's Week 12 of the @steemit-ironchef challenge here on STEEM. The special ingredient for this week is Cauliflower. This ingredient is uncharted territory for me, as I don't think I've ever had cauliflower in the house. I decided to make Cauliflower Falafel Balls. Here's the recipe in a few simple steps:
Ingredients
1 Can of Chickpeas (Garbanzo Beans)
1 Half of a Large Cauliflower
4 Cloves of Garlic
1/2 Cup of Chopped Parsley
1/2 Cup of Chopped Mint
1 Cup of Chopped Cilantro (Coriander)
1 Tablespoon of Ground Cumin
1 Teaspoon of Ground Coriander
1 Teaspoon of Ground Paprika
1/2 Teaspoon of Salt
Olive Oil for Frying
Step 1: Chop the Cauliflower
Roughly chop the Cauliflower into small pieces and process in a blender/food processor.
Step 2: Add the Chickpeas Herbs and Spices
Add the chickpeas, fresh chopped herbs and spices. Process until well blended.
Step 3: Mix in Large Bowl
Pour the blended mix into a large bowl and mix until well incorporated.
Step 4: Form Balls
Create small balls from the mixture and place in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour. Don't be afraid to leave them overnight.
Step 5: Fry 'Em
Fry the falafel balls in olive oil. Keep turning them to ensure they cook on all sides.
Step 6: Serve and Enjoy!
Serve alongside some Tzatziki or Toum for dipping. Both are glorious. In this picture I served them with Tzatziki.
Let me know what you think!

Wonderful entry as usual my friend! I would have never thought about making falafels with cauliflower! Really very creative here!
These must be super delicious with the tzatziki!
Does falafel turn out OK shallow-fried? I've only made it in deep oil.
Yes, I prefer deep as well but did not had enough oil at the time. These were fine
