RE: Ledger Nano S - A Swiss bank account in your pocket

in #steemit-hunt8 years ago (edited)

I haven't researched the market as thoroughly as you, that's for sure!

The reasons I like the Ledger Nano S compared to the others:

  • they've actually built their own smart chip and don't rely on other hardware manufacturers
  • they support BTC, ETH, and ETC
  • I know the Ledger team personally and believe they are the best team solving this problem in the market.

I don't have a strong view on the other players though simply because I haven't tried the products yet.

The Ledger Team certainly is awesome. They're a big part of what's going to make people feel safer with their bits.

Paul Puey, @paullinator, from AirBitz mentioned this:

Steemit can incorporate the Airbitz Javascript SDK onto the website, and users could "login" using the Airbitz mobile app. This would allow Airbitz accounts to also contain Steemit keys. The same architecture that secures bitcoin in the Airbitz wallet can also secure your Steemit keys. Complete with PIN login, password recovery, One-Touch 2FA, etc.

Think of it as SingleSignOn for blockchain apps but unlike signing in with Google/FB, with Airbitz it's fully private, zero-knowledge client-side encrypted.

You should be seeing some cool announcements about this in the coming month.

I wonder when and if we will see Steem integration into hardware wallets as well. Personally, I think that would elevate Steem to a whole new level, and big time investors could load up on Steem Power with far less hesitations.

very interesting. i'd guess that demand from existing Ledger, Trezor etc customers is pretty low for Steem but will be cool to see Airbitz add it and maybe others will follow!
