Bandwidth limit exceeded.Please wait wait to transact or power up steem.What does it mean?
From the last few day many users are getting this message(Bandwidth limit exceeded.Please wait to transact or power up steem) popped up on their screen and are even not allowed to vote comment or post on their steemit account.Many have started thinking that this is some kind of bug or there is something wrong with steemit or the blockchain.But let me tell you this is neither a bug nor a system glitch.
By now You may be thinking then what the hell is it?
If you go through the steem white paper it clearly mentions that each user on steemit is entitled to an average weekly bandwidth depending on the total steem power the users have steem power the current reserve ratio the block size and the total block per week.A user is allotted a certain bandwidth considering these factors and it may change from time to time.So at times user with small steem power may come across the bandwith usage and are unable to transact on the blockchain.
The main reason for this bandwidth limit is the current reserve ratio because it decreases too quicky which results in sharp rise and fall in the pattern at equilibrium .The current algorithm is designed in such away that it requires high amount of steem -power to be held by the users for prolonged use and the bandwidth of those having lower sp will be drained soon in this way.
To get users out of this bandwidth issue a new algorithm has been proposed to change the reserve ratio for bandwidth which is draining too quickly.According to sources from github the bandwidth is imposed on users to prevent blockchain from being spammed.
So until the fix is applied for this you need to check you activity on steemit and act wisely if you want to avoid running out of your bandwidth or you can buy some steem to get past the situation and the last and final solution is to be calm and wait until you are able to transact again.
You can check your bandwidth remaining at steemd.com followed by your user name like this -steemd.com/@yourusername.
