10 Unhealthy Habits That Can Damage the Brain
1~ Avoiding Breakfast
Strangely people who avoid breakfast tend to have a lower level of blood sugar. Invariably, this causes insufficient supply of essential nutrients to the brain, causing degeneration of the brain.
2~ Rarely talking
Intellectual conversations tend to promote brain efficiency. However, the prolong absence of intellectual and brain-stimulating conversation, could affect the brain.
3~ Over-eating
Over eating has been identified as having a hardening effect on the brain arteries. This leads to a decrease in mental strength.
4~ High Sugar consumption
High level of sugar consumption interrupts the body's absorption of proteins and essential nutrients. This can cause malnutrition and affect brain development.
5~ Depriving the brain of sleep
Sleep deprivation for long periods will lead to the death of brain cells at an accelerated rate. Sleep enables the brain to rest, hence the need for adequate sleep.
6~ Smoking
For smokers, especially chronic ones, the act causes the shrinkage of the brain and may eventually result in Alzheimer disease triggering memory loss.
7~ Stressing the brain during illness
During sickness, studying hard and stressfully may result in the decrease in effectiveness of the brain, and could cause brain damage.
8~ Air Pollution
Our brain functions via oxygen consumption. Being the largest consumer of oxygen in the body, inhaling polluted air can decrease the supply of adequate oxygen levels to the brain, leading to a decrease in the efficiency of the brain.
9~ Covering the head while sleeping
This act increases the concentration of carbon dioxide in the head. A decrease in oxygen concentration may lead to adverse brain damaging effects.
10~ Lack of stimulating thoughts
Brain stimulation through thoughts and brain exercise has been proven to be the best way to train the brain. Brain shrinkage could occur due to absence of stimulating thoughts.
Without a doubt, the brain is one of the most essential organs in the human body and controls our existence and identity as sane human species. It is very essential that we try as much as possible to protect and take care of the brain.
