Why I should take Cold Showers. Part II
Well, as I wrote yesterday, taking a cold shower most certainly has some amazing benefits to body, mind and soul. Everything from boosting the immune system, to weight loss and also fast muscle recovery after exercise. If you missed this, go back and review the Why and How some of this.
If after reading today's post, you're ready to jump into the cold water, remember, don't dive in head first. Take it slow at first, then gradually increase. Also, you may wish to consult your doctor beforehand just to be sure you have no underlying issues that need to be attended to.
So let's continue on with 3 more great reasons of why taking a cold shower is good for our overall health and wellbeing. You may be surprised.
1 They Make Your Skin and Hair Healthier
Another great thing about cold showers is that they make your hair and skin look and feel better! How? Well the cold water tightens the cuticles and pores so stops the skin from losing too many important natural oils as well as helps our hair grips the scalp better. Plus it keeps the scalp cleaner as it stops dirt accumulating, reduces dandruff and of course they have a general detoxifying effect which also makes the skin look better and more youthful.
2 They Improve Your Circulation
Cold showers are great for helping to maintain a healthy circulation which is key to good cardiovascular fitness. There are two reasons why this happens. The first is that when we have a cold shower our arteries and veins constrict (it is called vasodilation) and this causes the blood to flow at a higher pressure as there is now less space available for it. On top of that secondly when we get cold our nervous system automatically sends a message to our heart to pump even more blood around the body to keep it all warm which has the effect of also improving blood circulation.
3 They Relieve Stress
Not only can cold showers wake you up and make you feel more alert, believe it or not they can also help relieve stress by lowering our uric acid levels and boosting the amount of glutathione in our blood!
Incredibly there are still tons of other benefits to cold showers that we haven’t gone into that range from improved sexual performance, higher IQ’s and even helping you sleep! But hopefully you will have the joy of finding out those for yourselves. For now why not just start off tomorrow morning and see how much better you feel when you do!
Until then good luck and let us know how you get on!

Hi @randysimor I love this post :) I am really not a fan of cold water but my naturopath suggested I start cold-shocking for my stress about 3 years ago. At first, I was mad at him for telling me to do something that seemed so terrible but even after my first time, I noticed differences in my day that lasted and I appreciated- I'll always be thankful to him for suggesting it. I continued this while traveling and often plunged into freezing cold water to give my system a boost ;) I love the natural ways we can heal our bodies, I try to share them as well and am happy to find others doing the same!
Nice to meet you friend :)
Thanks for sharing!
Hope you have a great day!
Totally agree.. We just need to re-discover all that we already know...Nature provides everything.
Cheers :)
