hello steemian friends,
on this afternoon I was with my friend @sofda travel to pase sentosa village kecamatan simpang kramat in aceh north. along the exhausting journey with bad road conditions I see many yellow flowers that are widely known by people called chicken shit flowers. curiosity arose in me about the benefits of interest in the field of health. I took a picture of this flower with my Nikon D5100 camera and my 18 - 55 mm lens . so that I did check on google.com.

Benefits of this chicken shit is very large. Indonesian people use chicken dung flowers (tagetes) to treat respiratory infections, anti-inflammatory, thinning sputum, overcoming cough and drugs for wounds. Filipinos use Tagetes flowers in the treatment of anemia, menstruation that is not smooth, rheumatism and pain in bone. Many countries whose communities use Tagetes interest for eye diseases and sedatives. In the field of agriculture, Tagetes flowers are effective in the prevention of plant-disturbing nematodes so they are used as intercropping plants, insect repellents, herbicides and anti-fungi. The essential oil of Tagetes flowers effectively inhibits bacterial growth, antifungals in saprolegnia, ferax as well as larvacids in culex quinquefasciatus, and Aedes aegypti (Anonymous I, 2010).

Perhaps because the smell is not as good as roses, cempaka and others, chicken shit flowers are not so popular. However, the odor factor does not cause the community to keep it as an ornamental plant, because chicken flower in fact has a high efficacy in terms of herbal and traditional medicine. According to the Chairman of the Center of Genetic Resources Plant Bio Science UPM, Serdang Selangor, Dr.Moh.Said Saad, this plant is efficacious to treat injuries to the limbs. Basically this plant has a good property as a herbal treatment because this plant has antiseptic properties. The antiseptic properties of the plant tagetes erecta L, present in the mucus that comes out of the fresh leaves. Based on the acknowledgment of some traditional medicine practitioners, chicken shoot leaves can also be used to treat swelling or terseliuh on certain limbs. How to use it by squeezing a few leaves and placed in a swollen place. Then wrapped with a cloth and left until the feeling of swelling disappeared (Anonymous III, 2009).
