Back again with some advice!IMG_20170915_193622845_HDR.jpg
This is a continuation of my previous posts https://steemit.com/life/@mobile-joat/mobile-joat-and-his-everyday-life-part-2

Day 2 removing the engine
While removing the engine should have been a much easier task than it was every job usually has its difficulties. This one was the bell housing bolts... They were what are called reverse torx heads, and they managed to round off while attempting to get them removed. Bad news! There almost impossible to drill without removing the engine and transmission intact! I went into think tank mode and resolved the issue by using a very small air powered grinding tool and ground the head off. This took some time, but we managed to get it done and out by the following morning. Keep in mind every day I have to cross a ferry that only operates from crack of dawn to just before dark so it doesn't give me a whole lot of time to complete the daily tasks I'd like to.

Day 3
By the 3rd day we finally had the engine out and on the stand! Yes!
IMG_20171109_180123905_HDR.jpg
We started to remove and exchange all necessary parts and find the reason for the original engine failure. As my trainee removed the oil pan Bingo! We found it. IMG_20171110_122157612.jpg
The engine rod bearing had come out and a piece was hung up in the oil pump. Question was why did it do this?? IMG_20171110_111501349.jpg
Well what your looking at in this picture is sludge! Yes sludge!

Advice
This engine failed prematurely. Reason being is, •bad oil.
•Lack of a timely oil change.
And •not flushing the engine on a regular schedule.
What's bad oil? Oil that doesn't have an effective detergent value that last.
What's a timely service interval? Usually 3-6 months depending on the situation.
What does flushing an engine do? Engines create build up over time that reduce preformance over time if this build up is left alone. It will greatly reduce the engine lifespan leaving you with an unexpected expense you definitely can't afford. Then having to sell your vehicle for a reduced price because it's unaffordable to repair.
I could go on, but I'll save some more for the next post...
So until next time this is @mobile-joat signing outIMG_20170829_192208777_HDR.jpg

Love the photos and the explanations. Regular maintenance is the key to keeping the engine running smoothly and less chances of breakdowns at inopportune moments.

I can't tell you how many times I've told people to improve their maintenance schedule to avoid this stuff and they continue to turn a deaf ear... This guy was mostly innocent he was definitely trying... but I'll explain more in upcoming posts. Glad you enjoyed it.

I appreciate the explanation. So even if you get the oil changed on a regular schedule... cheap oil could make it worse?🐓🐓

ABSOLUTELY!!! The problem with cheap oil is the detergent level is very low and I stress very low. So all build up, oil residue, or sludge as we call it is piling up like grease plugging up your engine ports keeping the most necessary parts from being properly lubed.

No more of those quick oil lube places for my little car! Thanks for the tip.

Proceed with caution! Let's not forget a very important ingredient. Changing your oil brand quickly can also result in even faster engine damage... I'll get some advice in the next post on switching brands. So don't go too fast... 😊
