Who Do I Follow on Steem & Why? : You May Want to Give them a Follow Too!

in #steemimpact4 years ago

"Follow someone who can guide you; but not one who get guides by your following."

I was browsing the Internet some weeks ago when I came across this quote by Bunaiz Kassim. I had it written down in my diary Because I saw a lot of meaning to it. Coming across the who do I follow on Steem and why initiative by @theycallmedan few hours ago reminded me of the content of that quote and gave me more Insight into its meaning.

As at the time of writing this post, I was following exactly 331 people on Steem, and I can strongly say that I follow a very large percentage of those people just because I think it was a normal thing to do. The people I follow because of the value I get from them and their contents are very few, and I think this applies to quite a good number of us on here and other social media platforms in general.

However, those few people I follow just because of the value I get from them are enough to make my journey on Steem a great one. Also, the role of the large percentage of people I follow just for the sake of it can not be underemphasized because I have learnt or gained one thing or the other from some of them too.

As a measure to fulfill the quest of this who do I follow on Steem and why? initiative by @theycallmedan, I will be making a list of some people I follow and why I follow them.

@apiprincz - The Initiator of my Journey on Steem

If there is anything I should be more grateful for on Steem, it is the fact that I had the opportunity to know about the platform at the time I did. Not everyone has had the opportunity to know about Steem or even get someone to motivate them to join. This is why @apiprincz will forever be an important part of my Steem journey. He had to convince me several times to join Steem. And after I joined, I had difficulty logging into the platform on my phone, and he personally took it upon himself to help me build the account while I get my phone sorted out. He really helped alot in helping to give directives and tutorials on what to post, how to post and do other things on the Steem platform. Though he is not very active like before, but he is just someone that deserves the accolade.

Tell me why someone like this shouldn't have a special place in my follow list!

@greenrun - The Mentor who Redefined, Reshaped and Improved my Writing Skills

Screenshot_20200209-002122.png

I was never a writer or a blogger before I joined Steem. Infact, It doesn't interest me to write or even read. But one interesting thing about me is that I'm flexible enough to adapt to any situation I found myself so far it is adding value to my personality. And as such, I had to seek for a mentor who would put me through on how to write quality contents. Fortunately for me, I came across one of @greenrun's post. He happens to be one of the moderators of the @steemstem community then. I contacted him and we got to chat on Discord. He taught me alot about how to write high quality articles most especially STEM related. He was so kind and intelligent to give practical examples of how to do these things. Also, he kept on checking on my articles to give necessary corrections.

I asked again, Tell me why someone like this shouldn't be regarded to as a special person in my follow list (smiles)!

@originalworks - The Catalyst that made me Love Cryptocurrency and Blockchain as a Topic

Screenshot_20200209-002218.png

Quite a lot of my friends are always fond of saying blockchain and cryptocurrency is a boring topic to read or write about. Opposite is the case for me because the only topic I never get tired of writing about is blockchain and cryptocurrency related topics. I started developing interest in it after @apiprincz told me about @originalworks. @originalworks is a community on Steem that organizes weekly contest about various crypto and blockchain projects. Though, the only reason I was taking part in the contest then was because of the bucks I get as a winner from it on a weekly basis. But it has done so much good to me than just the bucks. It has forced me to make research on different crypto and blockchain topics, which has really enriched me with crypto and blockchain knowledge in general.

Give me a good reason why a community like this shouldn't have a special place in my follow list as well!

@nathanmars - A Passionate Steem Promoter you can't Resist

Screenshot_20200209-001929.png

@nathanmars came at a time when a whole lot of people including myself seems to have lost hope in the power and potential of Steem which I think was mainly due to the massive dump in the price of Steem and SBD. He Ignited the fire back in our heart with his 777 Steem initiative. We all know how difficult it is to motivate people to do things without any reward in for it. And as such, @nathanmars reward participants of this initiative with some Steem and Steem power incentives which I was a beneficiary to as well. He's thought me and made me a true believer of Steem.

Don't you think it would be unfair if I fail to include someone like this in a special place of my follow list (smiles)!

@theycallmedan - A Passionate Steem Promoter Building Quality Engagement on Steem

Screenshot_20200209-001729.png

I'm going to keep this short because I'm sure no any active steem member who loves Steem wouldn't want to follow this passionate Steemian who has been promoting Steem on various social media platforms and also motivating other steemians at large to encourage quality engagement on the platform. I'm very sure he is part of the reason a good number of us haven't given up on Steem. It's good to have great minds like @theycallmedan around.

Give a good reason why I shouldn't follow someone like him over and over again!

@coininstant - A Great Personality and Experienced Crypto Trader

My Steem journey won't be complete without following this great mind also. He has been a motivation and a blessing to me ever since we got to know each other. He has done a lot to sharpen my crypto trading skills. He has really changed my orientation when it comes trading crypto. Also, I would be found wanted on some of the steem tribes if not for his guides and directives.

No doubt, He is special to me and he is worthy of being on this list.

@rok-sivante - A Great Writer who Support Quality Contents

Screenshot_20200209-000709.png

@rok-sivante is a great writer who likes giving support to contents that are of high quality. He is an awesome Steemian who has been helping to add value value to the Steem platform through his quality contents and by promoting engagement on the platform through comments and upvotes. Just by checking his blog, you would agree with me with how his interesting contents catches the attention of its readers. He has been of great support and motivation to me.

I guess you might want to give him a follow too!

As a matter of fact, I would have to give kudos to every of the steemians I follow because I know I have learnt or gained one thing or the other from some of them. And to those I haven't learn or gained anything from, I still give them kudos for making my profile feed full and lively.. Lol!

Now, tell me why I shouldn't follow them too!

In conclusion

The people we follow matters a lot even though some of us don't see any importance to it especially when it's online. We have to remember that it is their post we get to see first on the feed anytime we login into our blog, and we have to take note of the popular saying that first impression last longer. Just as it was stated by the quote, let's endeavor to follow someone who can guide us through the value we get from their articles, personality, or engagements and their positive impacts on the platform at large.
