Where Are You Steemians?

in #steemians5 years ago

@Pennsif asked a good question at the beginning of his call to action post "The Daily DO" today.

Where are you Steemians?

So where are we?

Back when I joined Steem, dApps already started to grow, but I think all of them at the time were focused on content, even if it was of different type, not all general-purpose like steemit.com or busy.org, or later, steempeak.com.

So, steemians were focused either on creating content or on curating or on both. Some were also developers or took the witnessing road.

But with time, the ecosystem changed, and will change even more, because the goal of Steem is "tokenization of the internet", so there will be an even broader focus than there is today.

Even now, without SMTs and lots of projects building upon them and STEEM as a base pair, we developed in various areas compared to those times not so long ago.

A steemian today, besides creating content and curating, has quite a few other options to keep him or her busy:

  • people get involved in different projects on Steem, each taking up a portion of their time
  • discord is a good form of engagement, but also takes its time toll
  • we have a great presence on Twitter as well; some people use other social media platforms or other instant messaging platforms to promote Steem
  • some choose to track and talk about their daily activities that keep them fit and healthy, using actifit; and you might think it's just one of the "others", but as a long time actifiter, I can tell you these activities take time (most of them it's true you probably would have done without actifit, but maybe not as consistent)
  • an important number of steemians play games like Steem Monsters or DrugWars on Steem, which can take a significant amount of time, put together
  • probably an equally important number of steemians use gambling apps

I probably missed a few areas of interest where our time allocated for Steem goes.

The more things we try to do within the same amount of time, the less productive we will be, that's tested and proven.

It also increases the chances that we react with difficulty to call to actions, unless they are aligned with our own areas of interest on Steem.

So, could it be that steemians never see / hear about some call to actions because they are focused in different areas? Or that they want to keep doing what they are doing without interruption? If the second is the case, maybe a few minutes can be spared for some worthy calls to actions, like the ones brought to our attention daily by @pennsif.
