Foobar2000 is my favorite free audio/music player for Windows. Foobar2000 is probably the best quality audio player software for Windows.
Foobar2000 is able to play a lot of audio formats (for example MP3, AAC, WMA, OGG, FLAC), and you can even improve it by downloading and using additional components. For example adding support for the Monkey's Audio files (.APE file format) and for the APE Link files (.APL file format) by downloading and installing the Monkey's Audio Decoder 2.1.9. There are many (more than a hundred) components available from the official website of foobar2000.
There are also a lot of good/useful/helpful functions by default. My favorite function is the displaying of the "Total time played". Just go to the preferences (or press Ctrl+P), and click on the "Playback" option on the left side of the newly appeared window. This way you can keep track of how much time (how many hours/minutes) you spend with listening to music or to other audio files, like audio books.
