NodeGUI is an open source application with MIT license that can help you build great cross platform apps for desktop. I know that some people are all about Progressive Web Apps. But I do believe that there will always be a place for native desktop apps.

NodeGUI is powered by React and Qt5 instead of Chromium making it a far more efficient than using Electron for apps.

Features

  • Work on major Linux flavours, Windows and MacOS
  • Low CPU and memory footprint. Current CPU stays at 0% on idle and memory usage is under 20mb for a hello world program
  • Styling with CSS (includes actual cascading), full support for Flexbox layout (thanks to Yoga)
  • Complete Nodejs api support
  • Native widget event listener support. supports all event available from Qt / NodeJs
  • Can be used for Commercial apps
  • Good Devtools support (hot reload, live reload, debugging etc)
    First class Typescript support. (Works on regular JS projects)
