Zsh is a famous unix shell alternative to bash and fish, but I find it really great to used it alongside with Oh-My-Zsh, which is a framework on top of Zsh.

Oh-My-Zsh is a framework zsh configuration, which will make your terminal looks 10x better than the default bash or shell version.

Oh-My-Zsh is open source and actively being developed from time to time, so a lot of new features came in quite frequent.

Requirement

  • Zsh installed.
  • Basic terminal knowledge to use it.

Key features

  • Change fonts, color, themes
  • Git support which shows which branch you are in
  • Can add in computer condition like plugged in or not, temperature, etc.
  • Support emoji 😋
  • Make terminal great again!
  • A lot of choices of themes that can be change in .zshrc file.

Conclusion

I had been using Oh-My-Zsh for a while, and really a must install zsh framework when it's on your working desktop. Sometimes, I even install this on a remote server.

    Pros:

    • Very nice tool for a desktop user
    • It as a lot of themes can change which is very special
    • Open source, everyone can contribute

          Pros:

          1. This makes working with a version control system more fun and easy
          2. It has a variety of color and theme options from which you can choose from to enhance your experience
          3. It allows the use of emoji which makes it more fun to use
          4. It shows the branch you're working on making you sure you're committing to the right branch

          Cons:
          It is amazing, I couldn't find any
