Splish is trying to enter a space where giants like Instagram and Snapchat still reign strong: social sharing.
How does Splish plan to differentiate itself?
Here's how, according to Techcruch: "The Splish app pops content into video loops of between 1-5 seconds. Photos can be uploaded too but motion must be added in the form of an animated effect of your choice. So basically nothing on Splish stays still. (Hence its watery name.) But while wobbly, content on Splish is intended to stick around — rather than ephemerally pass away (a la snaps)."
Splish intends to approach social sharing in an 'anti-Instagram' manner, offering a much less polished content as opposed to Instagram's sleek magazine feel.
It's also not meant to encourage the growth of influencers like Instagram and Snapchat. Rather, it was built to forster bonds between close friends.
It also comes with lo-fi GIF and other features that make reality look a little less like it, instead of making it shinier as does Instagram filters.
Personally, it reminds me a little of Vine, except with more filters, more filters and closer bonds with friends.
Though I'm outside of its target age range, would I use it? I'd definitely give it a try! What about you?
