Appcenter is a service by Microsoft.
It is the place where mobile developers can build their apps (sign them as well) and publish to the respective store all by just pushing the changes to your linked git repository.
It supports multiple platforms and and operating systems. You can also use it to compile your app for iOS without owning a mac. My tutorial for doing that
You also get analytics for your app in one place and soon you will get one unified push notification service.
You can also get your app tested on live and real devices.

Great hunt, I'm not a developer myself so can't speak for how well known this app already is, but if i were, this would be an important tool for me during testing for bugs and then user acceptance.
