One of the biggest “problems” when discovering new and great sounding podcasts which have been running for a while already is that simmering, yet irresistable, urge to download their whole archive.

And then forget to listen to all episodes.

If only you could just get a drip feed of the podcast’s whole archive, delivered to you at your own, not “oppressive” pace.

Image our own @teamhumble were to run a daily podcast of his “Deezzz nuts”, complete with back archive. The day you discover the show, TH has already accumulated 50 or more episodes, yet you want to discover how he rates products, what his likes are and what awesome hunts he has discovered previously.

But you don’t want to download that whole archive at once. Instead you just want a daily drip, starting with the first episode. Because you already have a daily new episode, one more episode daily from the archives is all you can deal with.

Enter: Cast Rewinder, a free and open-source tool by Joachim Robert.

Joachim, who got the idea from Brendan Hutchins in the podcast Bitrate, developed the Cast Rewinder tool and also hosts the service, for those who don’t have access to hosting or the knowledge to operate it themselves, over at rewind.website

To use rewind.website just enter an iTunes podcast or podcast feed URL and set the frequency at which you want the podcast to be drip-delivered. You can chose to receive daily, weekly or monthly delivery of an archive episode, starting from the beginning of each podcasts history.

Because this is the Internet, and a basic service always leads to people want to have more features, Joachim even included a ~~kitchen-sink~~ advanced options. ;)
