Silk Labs, a young company started just 2 years ago, did something truly amazing: AI right on the smart device (phone, tablet or any other smart device you can think of). They did something so unique, Apple bought this company just a few days ago.
Why is AI processing on the smart device so important, and in essence revolutionary?
- It works when OFFLINE!
- It'll drive down the cost of using AI, opening the market for more AI powered Apps and Services
- It helps to keep eg bio metric information private; since it never has to leave the users device through 'Privacy By Design' methodology.
Silk Apps supports today:
- Audio Recognition
- Face Recognition
- People Detection
- Object Detection
Use Case: Object detection
- Know when your dog is misbehaving and has jumped onto your couch
- Count the vehicles that have entered a parking lot
- Create custom models for your specific application

Privacy By Design and offline availability are the biggest selling points. Many of the cloud based AI features are already present in Silk Labs. Ability to create custom apps is really important. It allows devs across the globe to leverage on the Silk Labs technology and innovation.
Our mobile designs are getting faster each year and most people still just play video games and take photos. Apps like Silk Labs will put all that raw power into good use.
The negative side is that the product won't run that we'll on older devices. But that'll eventually pass away with time.

Thank you so much; I wouldn't want this product to go unnoticed :)
there was plenty of hype around the newest Huawei and the power of AI behind it. I am curious about comparing both ai technologies.
I do too! :)
