The Chopvalue business started out as a research topic from forestry PhD Student Felix Böck in the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, Canada. Felix mixed his love for sushi and his research interest in bamboo in designing products made from recycled (and cleaned) chopsticks.
The Chopvalue.com website has products in their shop such as:
- Hexagonal Wall Shelves
- Wall Decor Nine Piece Starter Set
- Coaster Sets
- Yoga & Endurance Blocks
- Tables For Two & Four
- C-Side Tables
Here are a few supplementary Youtube videos which provide more information on the Chopvalue business and how the chopsticks are cleanred and then turned into tables and home products.

Great Hunt! I love the selection of products available and I'm always happy to see more recycling going around and I believe in using technology for a greener future. Now here is a cool video of a Japanese company that is recycling baseball bats into chopsticks.
Imagine turning those into furniture. That would be Recycle^2
This video looks cool too. Recycling and waste reduction through technology is always nice.
first of all Hats off to the person who came out with this idea that recycled chopsticks can be used to make such useful and great usable products. We need more ideas like this because this is quite innovative idea and very much useful to save environment and our planet. Anything that saves our planet, I support it and kudos to you my friend @dkmathstats for sharing this awesome hunt. Have a great day.
Very interesting! I think it is pretty cool that they are taking every day objects like that and finding new uses for them. I have to imagine it takes a ton of them to make something as impressive as this though. I think they need to keep doing things like this and exploring new ways to reuse items. Nice hunt!
Thank you. For a (cup) coaster, it takes about 150 recycled chopsticks. It seems like a lot but think about how many people eat sushi each day.

Great way to re-purpose chopsticks! There are so many chopsticks just thrown away in restaurants after a single use. And while that's not as problematic as single-use plastics, its still a problem when it comes to waste. The wooden blocks that come from the chopsticks look good too. I like how they used the individual pieces as part of the wood's texture.
The Yoga Block from recycled chopsticks is a bit of a surprise. They have different designs too!
