The Ambeo headset just looks like a regular pair of earphones but it contains two microphones on each ear piece. These microphones are for capturing sound almost exactly the way you hear it due to its proximity to the ear (3D sound).
The microphones can also be switched on to monitor outside noise without recording to eliminate the need to take them out to talk to someone.
