There are a lot of robotics nowadays but how much are those? It's really expensive, right?
That's why I really promote open source softwares, projects and applications just like this Quadruped Robot, which is an open source quadruped robot with 22 degrees of freedom!
In this way, we can somehow customize our own way by using the structure that they have shared.

Pros:
-Very cool quadruped robot
-Good household "pet" to keep
Cons:
-really expensive to get one
What could be those applications?
If you will get the overview of why robots are made, then you will understand what are those applications. Let's just give an example, a robot can be used to track something or locating something by having an embedded camera or any. It can also be a toy if you want to. This could also be a courier. Possibilities are not limited.
Flexible little thing. It looks cute as well. Open source is grate thing and having this robot open source is amazing. Everyone can play around with it.

Similar robots have been developed by NASA some time ago for different space missions and most of them for Mars. Robotics is a niche that will grow more and more in the near future. Great Hunt!
