Peer to peer instant messenger, which doesn't require any personal information to use the chat client. Unlike other messengers which require email or more seriously, the phone number, this will give you a unique ID to identify you.

While other big-name services require you to pay for features, Tox is completely free and comes without advertising — forever.
Also there are no central servers, therefore it is making the user completely anonymous. But the person you have added to your contact can see you IP address, and this can be avoided by using proxy, if you want complete anonymity.

I just started using tox this year, it's pretty cool because you can also transfer files to your friends and it even has voice and video chat. And if you want to get friends you can use the tox I D service
