Golem is a huge decentralized network of computers (superсomputer) which enables us to perform tasks which require huge computing power
It's based on Etherium blockchain and it uses its own token - GNT (Golem Network Tokens).
It's an Open source platform

There are three types of users

  • Providers - those who provide their unused computer power and get paid for it
  • Requestors - those who ask to carry out tasks and pay Providers
  • Authors - those who develop this platform further

Its available for anyone (with a computer)

It could be used to do science-related tasks (DNA analysis, BigData, neural networks), to render physical models, for machine learning ...
The goal is to create a global market of computing power

IMHO

Personally I hope this platform will help to solve some biological (DNA-related) problems
It seems to me that it's that case when you can literally buy your time and save it

Great hunt mate I recently start merit for mining and gonna start Golem to in the near future. Thanks for sharing.

I don't know if I have enough spare power to make it practical for me to be a producer but I'd like to try. This sounds like the kind of thing that could solve serious problems (including medical ones) and help a lot of people if it catches on.

A great mining tech/app you got here hunter, better it isn't like thats ones that will still require you to still work with your PC for the mining not to stop

congratulations dear friend @alexbiojs for this excellent find
Everything that can support science to greetings be welcome
I join your cause. Congratulations for the excellent hunting.
I wish you a happy hunt

I've heard a lot about Golem, since it was one of the first few Ethereum Projects, but I've yet to dive in to see what it's all about. Thanks for sharing this @alexbiojs. Perhaps I should take some time to look into the Golem project.

I could not find details about what kind of security is needed for a user to connect to the network and at the same time prevent any exploit to his computer ? And what happens, if he disconnects to the network ? The current release seems to be focusing on a single use case: CGI rendering, so may be more to come, but I would expect they provide a FAQ at the minimum to understand the platform at a high level.

Hi. excellent questions you've asked here, thanks.

You can chat on chat.golem.network

Here's some FAQs https://golem.network/documentation/faq/

Golem is a project in the early stages.

Warning
Golem Project is a work in progress. Current version is an alpha stage of Brass Golem and it's not fully secured. Check this list of issues for more details. Please be sure that you understand the risk before installing the software.

Personally I haven't used it yet, so I can't answer the questions about security.

wow. another method to earn etherium. how i wish i can have more pc to idle it and do this. thank you for the sharing

Hi @ alexbiojs, an interesting hunt
Why not out rent the power of your computer if we can continue to use it normally?
I think this is a good offer if there are no restrictions and you can earn that GNT.
By the way, GNT is 48 on the rank list of coinmarketcap!
Access is simple, sign up on the page and follow the instructions.
You will very soon find out, if you are worth it and how much.
Worth to try ...

Good luck with hunting.

thanks for the additional information. so many comments. It's a project in the early stage. I've already added some more information here in comments to user sanmi. check that out )

Great job @alexbiojs for bring Golem to steemhunt, Among many crypto projects, this is a legitimate one, that happens to solve an existing problem, scientific research and other, that can be solve by the Blockchain and also opportunity to earn for those have excess hard drive.
