Jimny is well known as small 4WD vehicle yet powerful for off-road activities. Unlike European and American 4WD vehicles (Jeep, Mercedes, Land Rover) that have wide and big body size, this all-terrain Japanese made has a compact size. Although the size is small for this type of car, Suzuki Jimny has the same performance as a large car.

This 4th generation is a highly anticipated car by off-road vehicle enthusiasts. Since the launch of the first generation around 1971, Suzuki Jimny has been getting loyal fans in various parts of the world. No exception in Indonesia, the first generation (Suzuki Jimny LJ10) is famous for the term "Jimny Kodok" (Kodok = Frog). Until now even after almost 50 years old, this car is still being well treated by some loyal hobbyist.

I once owned a second generation Suzuki Jimny (SJ410) that I named "JimBlue" and shown in the last two pictures. This second generation is arguably the most successful product in terms of the number of sales for the Indonesian market due to its considerable seller rate and the model has survived long enough since its launch (1981-1998). There is a lot of variant for this generation according to body shape and performance features.

The third generation that its launch coincided with the monetary crisis that occurred in Indonesia in 1998 and caused a low demand in Indonesia market. The crisis turns the price of the product too high. And also the technology was not significantly changed compared with the previous generation.

In the last generation, the most significant technology improve is the crossbar chassis that turn to the better stability of the vehicle. The car initial is R06A powered by three-cylinder, turbocharged, and 660 cc petrol engine. Its also has the wide variant named Jimny Sierra (K15B) with four-cylinder yield the performance up to 100.5 horsepower at 6,000 rpm.
