The GIG economy - how to get on a role with Steemgigs

in #steemgigs6 years ago

A gig economy is an environment in which temporary positions are common and organizations contract with independent workers for short-term engagements. The trend toward a gig economy has begun.

Actually, I think Steemit has already allowed the gig economy to become part of your career path if you start embracing the relationships and interactions that you can develop with other steemians. This is why I want to tell you and the people I know on Steemit more about steemigigs.

I think most people know of the name Terry or @surpassinggoogle if you have been around Steemit long enough, and @steemgigs was actually one of the first groups I joined because I have always been a fan of the 'gig economy' which had failed to materialize in the traditional eonomy, and I had quite bad experiences with freelancer websites like Freelancer.com, Upwork.com and others (problem with living in a first world economy I suppose).

If you have also been patiently waiting for steemgigs.org to be launched so that you can make the most of your skills and talent here on steemit, there are a couple of things that I suggest you start doing now because when it is ready we will need people to start making the most of it so that we can help the steemit economy grow further in its next phase.

FIRST STEPS

  • Think about how you would like to contribute to @steemgigs
  • Invite yourself or people that you know to SteemGigs (https://discord.gg/WxrMba)
  • Say hi to @artaddict and introduce yourself and put yourself done for a role (hopefully your best skills if you have many)
  • Say hi to people that you know on Steemit who are also on steemgigs

THEN

  • Think about problems that you want to solve on Steemit and start having conversations with other steemians
  • Think about problems that you can solve on Steemit and start offering your time or services
  • Think about problems that other people can solve on Steemit and promote them

NOW

  • there are so many different roles you can take on here at Steemgigs, so if a role doesn't exist then @artaddict can create one for you
  • those of you that have mentioned about building something new or making changes to how you use steemit, there is a dev-request channel for you to bring attention to ideas and projects for developers that might be interested in working on them outside of utopian.io related projects (for @davemccoy and @lestatisticien to keep in the back of their mind perhaps?)
  • those of you that want your posts to reach a broader audience, try finding a translator or a polyglot who just happens to communicate frequently to people between different cultures or countries (I already know many #polyglots here so please let people know about your services)
  • actually, I am surprised that there hasn't been a competition to introduce an official steemgigs logo yet (or maybe I just don't know about it so something that @orcheva or other designers might be interested in?)

Finally, I want to start writing about people on steemgigs and help share their story so you can find them in the 'gig economy', so if you are interested in having someone present you in an independent and objective manner and let the rest of the community know about what you can do to help, please contact me on Discord or leave comments here :)
