From which type of teacher do students from a problematic family with even more problematic personal life needs?

A student was forced to stop from school because of terror teachers. Those that shake their whole body even just hearing the teacher's terror voice. Though more of them were already a history, the psychological effect of the child is long-term and even lifelong.

There was even this student from the school I am currently in. He earned a living from being a dance instructor and choreographer. Amazed at his performance, I was given the chance to chat with him at the canteen. I did ask him how he earned the talent? From what school he came from since he is mid 20's already. O my! I was shocked with his story. He wasn't able to finish even in high school! And the reason was?... because of his grade-9 adviser. Take note his adviser.

The sad story

They were grouped by five and was tasked to report a certain topic. As the leader, he prepared the visual aid. He sees to it it was beautifully made to earn extra points since he belongs to the top ten students. So when it was their turn to report, with confident they immediately moved to the center, posted their prepared instructional materials and off they went on their topic. Only to hear this from their teacher, " stop the reporting, I am not happy with your performance. You are not giving your best !" There, the next day he was no longer found in the school. He lost his desires to study. According to him, the teacher didn't even care to follow him up. What had happened to him.. or care to know what's going on with him? Hmmm... this was only his version. I didn't investigate further.

What I've learned from his story?

The influence and inspiration a teacher does give.
Based on his side of the story, the experienced badly affect his life. Imagined until the day I talked to him, he doesn't want to see the face of the teacher.

I learned that it is not enough for a teacher to just teach the subject matter. He needs to know every aspect of the life of these students entrusted to him. A teacher needs to know what kind of life is hidden on those faces.

I now understand the deep meaning of why as a teacher we are imposed to keep a record of our student's "biodata sheet/anecdotal record " There they need to put their current address, birthday, and the occupation of their parents. If the parents are from the province they need to identify their guardians. If the student is a "working student" he needs to write how much he earned, including his hobbies and dreams.

We asked them to write their unforgettable experienced may it be personal or family problem. But we need to explain well the reason why they need to write those confidential stories of their life.

In this way, we were given " insights" about the group of students we have in our hands.
