I have started an open source project, based on the five years studies I made to build a photovoltaic car shelter.

https://steemit.com/utopian-io/@chrisaiki/open-source-process-to-build-a-pv-car-shelter-project-presentation

I am looking for a good name for the domain name of this project.

This project is proposed to Sensorica, a network for open value.
You can earn money to participate to an open source project, thank's to @elear initative : sign up to utopian.io
https://steemit.com/utopian/@blockrush/utopian-io-rewarding-open-source-contributors-with-steem
https://steemit.com/utopian-io/@elear/utopian-over-400k-this-needs-transparency-another-huge-change

The winner of this competition will submit the name of the domain name on utopian.io with reference to the github :
https://github.com/Chrisaiki/ospv_carshelter

and his/her post will win the equivalent of 15 steem.

Any idea ?

Do you like the project ?

I will also need graphics for the website an will be opening a new threads for graphic soon.

yes, i like this project, this is great....

Pardon? Five years to design a carport?

It has already been done, the hardest part is storing the energy while the car is not there, but that is just a technical problem, usually solved with lots of heavy batteries.

Also, you need a solar panel the size of five parking spaces to fully charge an electric car in one day. So, what is your solution?

Until solar energy reach 35 % of our needs, you don't need to store it, you just have to inject it in the grid, and someone will use it.
In Europe, 80 % of people are driving less than 30 km per day. An cars are parked 95 % of the time. A 20 m² shelter produce 3,000 kWh per year and a Prius is using 300 Watt/km, so you can drive 10,000 km per year with a 20 m² (2 places ) shelter.
I did not worked 5 years to design a carport, I worked 5 years for a company which was designing, marketing and selling carports.

For the future, do not plan to "inject power into the grid" and then be able to get it later.

The grid can only handle about 10% solar power before it can't handle the ons and offs of the things. There are govern-cement plans in effect to limit solar to 10%. And these plans say they can come turn off your solar panels whenever they want.

Further, in the future, the grid is going to fail quite a lot. So, make preparations. A battery bank isn't that much (in comparison to all the solar panels)

And yep, if you have a little electric car that you use for little drives, then a solar panelled carport is enough to keep it topped up. But, this has to be understood. That if they drive their car to empty, its going to take five days to recharge it, maybe more.
