STEEM Food Tours #10: Kyotori - Penang, Malaysia
Konnichiwa! Welcome to Kyotori Japanese Kitchen! こんにちは! "Kyotori"日本のキッチンへようこそ!
It is rare for me to eat foreign food especially Japanese food since Penang already consider one of the famous food paradises in the world. Well, this Japanese restaurant is different from any Japanese food I ever eat. Somehow, they manage to maintain the freshness of the food once it is out from the kitchen.
Design & Decoration
Among the whole street, Kyotori is the only restaurant who spend the time to decoration and design to make the feel of Japanese environment in the street. They have added an artificial cherry blossom tree also known as Sakura tree, the Japanese traditional lanterns and finally hanging down the street with Koinobori which is a Japanese kite fish.

The interior design of the restaurant is a Japanese modern style with some simple decoration related to Japanese culture.
Menu & Price
Kyotori menu has both Japanese and English language. They serve Japanese food such as teishoku, yakitori, shabu-shabu, yakiniku and other variety of real Japanese food in here. The price is slightly higher compared to a local restaurant. It is still a great choice to eat once a while here.
Dishes & Taste
Undecided what to eat here? The chef menu recommendation is a great start. The food is just good enough to have a bite one to another. The freshness of every dishes just made the customer feel surprised of what they just ate. The taste is delicious equally compatible to a luxury restaurant in Japan. In addition, the taste of food somehow remains in the customer mind for a while. It reminds the customer to back and eat again. Below is my personal recommended dishes:
Tompan Cheese Set (with white rice, salad, chawamushi and miso soup)
Soft Shell Crab Karaage
Chicken Katsu Curry Rice
Tako Yaki
Enoki Tempura
