Steemfest Day 1- Hackathon, Mind Melds and Lasagna!

Wow ok, Here we go. Full on Steemfest day 1

At this point i feel the best way to do this might be to do a few check-ins throuout the day and then post at the end? Who knows-it could change but I’m tinking that might be the best way to keep events and happenings fresh, while still being able to stay in the moment.

It’s tough blogging events like this. I’m constantly torn between being present and keeping my records and mental notes for posterity and legacy. There’s nothing worse at the end of the day than chilling down and then having to think... “what the heck happened today??

So! So far! We’re meeting a ton of the most lovely folks. I feel a bit like a sleeper cell because I’m minnow AF swimming amongst these whales and dolphins. “And you are?’” Is a thing I’ve heard a lot today, but not in a bad way. Everyone has been super kind and not being “known” has given me a fresh slate with people, where I can make eye contact, give a firm handshake and say, “ Hi, I’m Dayleeo.”

This morning we had a STRAIGHT FIRE breakfast. The kind of breakfast that forgives all your sins, makes you forget all your woes and brings you right back to center from the early morning

After breakfast we took an Uber down to this quite rediculousy awesome coworking space. It was like a scene out of a post apocalyptic movie that artists had taken over, and graffitied in the most gorgeous and creative ways and really made their own.

I remember saying to @teamhumble, “I think I could take photos here for a year and still not see everything.” Every little corner had this little bit of flair that you’d miss unless you were in that wanderlust taking everything in mode.

It felt like a safe space for us fringe creatives and crypto geeks. A place to mind meld, talk about ideas, share stories, and then there was LASAGNA oh, and a scalp massage from @everlove. That combo move was lethal let me tell you. I was in heaven. I’m pretty sure @teamhumble caught a photo of that lasagna btw. It was glorious. My plate was half empty before I even had the thought to take my phone out for a snap.

All in all it was a beautiful day, connecting with some beautiful folks, sharing ideas, seeing @teamhumble activated in his hyper aware empath connection mode makes me so happy. I love seeing him that way, watching someone you love become activated, there’s nothing better!

After a StarWars reference got dropped (because, inevitable) the lovely @sarahmiller showed myself and @lifemovedbysteem down to the art gallery where I got to see some new work I hadn’t seen from my dear @juliakponsford. Seeing her work rightfully along side such amazing pieces really made my day.

There was some KILLER illustrated work as well and a few names I’ve written down as a result. Steemians who I’d love to work with one day. I know a series of children’s books is in our futures. I really feel that one coming somewhere along this VO-Cryptoindependant-sustainable work life we’re trying to live. I know it’ll somehow be a piece of the puzzle.

We decided to head back to the hotel, get our bearings and chill down in prep for opening night drinks later on. I’ve developed. Bit of a toothache so I need a rest for sure. I’ve had a shower and our room is totally quiet aside from the clicking from our respective keyboards.

Life in Lisbon is good, just praying this toothache passes 😓
