How to get to Central Lisbon from The Airport. Using the Subway.

in #steemfest7 years ago

Hey Steemians!!

It's the FINAL DAY of arrival from most of the participants (who are joining the hackathon) as the day after will be the start of the OFFICIAL STEEMFEST2!! creamy and delicious

By now I guess we all have our itinerary planned out and places to go. Well, if not, you should definitely download the Official Steemfest2 app by @good-karma and team.

But if you've just landed. Getting to the main event district may be a challenge for those coming to Lisbon for the first time like me. Took me some time to figure out the how-to's too..

So here's how you can go to the Steemfest area (Marques De Pombal, where HF is) through the cheapest and easiest way.

You will most probably exit your plane, get your luggage and come out of Aeroporto via Terminal 1.

In that case, just find the exit (theres only one) and you'll be greeted with the welcoming fresh warm air of Lisboa. Look up and you'll see a very instagram-able "Aeroporto Humberto Delgado Lisboa" sign. Look to your left and you'll see the Metro entrance.

Just look to the right and you'll see the entrance.

I made a mistake of not taking the sights of the entrance so I'll snag the metro entrance from the internet.

Soon as you enter, you'll need to approach the ticket machine to buy your ticket cards and tickets within.

Just buy a ticket card for each person and top up the cards with ticket. Since we are only buying it on a per-trip basis, i guess buying the "Carris-Metro Ticket" should be fine. You'll need one each trip so estimate ahead how many subway trips you may take..

How the ticket card look like

To get to Marquis de Pombal (and wherever you're staying after that). Just take the Linha Vermelha (Red Line) from your stop "Aeroporto" to "Saldanha", See the map for reference.

That'll take about 10 stops.. Just hang on and enjoy the sparsely spaced graffiti in the metro carts..

Carrying the bags in the metro may be cumbersome but you'll only do it twice this trip.

Once you've reached Saldanha stop, transfer to the Linha Amarela (Yellow line) and take 2 stops until you reach Marques de Pombal Station..

Thats it!!

In our case, as me and @vaelriey are staying in Rato district, we took an extra stop. but it's only nearby and within walking distance to Marques De Pombal so all is good!!
