Father’s are kind of important as well.
The incessant barrage of female rights, female this female that, #METOO!!
We have forgotton men or more importantly fathers in general. Human beings have a tendency to recognize things that are wrong, but then get the equation completely out of wack. Society suffers not only through class wars, but now gender wars.
To be a father has been reduced to a paycheck, a support payment, or just a donkey who is a beast of burden. Society didn’t get here by one gender. Let’s truly bring “equality” back into the equation.
RULES FOR SONS:
- Never shake a man’s hand sitting down.
- Don’t enter a pool by the stairs.
- The man at the BBQ Grill is the closest thing to a king.
- In a negotiation, never make the first offer.
- Request the late check-out.
- When entrusted with a secret, keep it.
- Hold your heroes to a higher standard.
- Return a borrowed car with a full tank of gas.
- Play with passion or not at all…
- When shaking hands, grip firmly and look them in the eye.
- Don’t let a wishbone grow where a backbone should be.
- If you need music on the beach, you’re missing the point.
- Carry two handkerchiefs. The one in your back pocket is for you. The one in your breast pocket is for her.
- You marry the girl, you marry her family.
- Be like a duck. Remain calm on the surface and paddle like crazy underneath.
- Experience the serenity of traveling alone.
- Never be afraid to ask out the best looking girl in the room.
- Never turn down a breath mint.
- A sport coat is worth 1000 words.
- Try writing your own eulogy. Never stop revising.
- Thank a veteran. Then make it up to him.
- Eat lunch with the new kid.
- After writing an angry email, read it carefully. Then delete it.
- Ask your mom to play. She won’t let you win.
- Manners maketh the man.
- Give credit. Take the blame.
- Stand up to Bullies. Protect those bullied.
- Write down your dreams.
- Always protect your siblings (and teammates).
- Be confident and humble at the same time.
- Call and visit your parents often. They miss you.
- The healthiest relationships are those where you’re a team; where you respect, protect, and stand up for each other.

Fathers are definitely important, especially to teenage sons. My son was 13 when I got divorced. He decided he wanted to live with his father. Letting him was one of the best decisions I ever made. His father was able to empathize with him and support him during those tender years in a manner in which I couldn't. My son has done quite well in life. He's currently finishing his PhD. And we still have a close relationship.
amazing! Putting what’s best for the children first! Kudos to you!
Thank you. It was not an easy choice at the time.
Since it's the week of vayikra, I might add something about learning and practicing to withhold gratification. (Not that I'm good at it...)
Resteemed :)
Thank you for this @bearbear613! I am a single mother and I really needed to see this post for my two young sons today! Right on time too! I love steemit!!!
As far as the bringing back "equality" I couldn't agree more. When did everything become so difficult?
Again, thank you!
I appreciate your post. Some of my post are all about equality, I think society is out of balance it tends to go to extremes and that is no healthy at all.
Families need both a father and a mother.
Children need both.
So let's not lose sight of the importance of fathering while we uphold the value of mothers -- and women and girls.
