SteemFantasy Contest: Under The Dark Night

This is my entry for the SteemFantasy Contest #2 hosted by bluemist, you can find more details of this contest here. The premise of this contest is to write your thoughts about a certain piece of art and for this contest it was of a soundtrack from the movie The Dark Knight Rises.

Overall, this piece of music was hauntingly beautiful with its light yet eerie beginning that foretells something possibly tragic. As the piano comes in I can feel the chills down my spine as the piece is telling you to get ready. I myself have never watched the movie but I can assume that something scary yet intriguing is bound to happen soon.

In my own head, I'm imagining a scene playing in front of me that can go two ways.

One: You're entering a large, dark forest full of a hazy mist as you search for something with the odds against you. As you approach a clearing of trees you find a dead animal, bloodied and beaten, and the tension rises as your head buzzes with anxiety. You quickly search around looking for who could have killed that poor animal but all is silent and you watch as the haze consumes you entirely. All you see is a subtle, fuzzy white and looking closer, you see a shadow lurking in front of you. You hold your breath, and decide if which one of your flight or fight instincts should kick in. You decide to run, you have no idea what weapon they hold and you conclude that your best chance of survival is to run. You run but your footsteps don't make a sound. You feel yourself panting but you cannot hear your body take the needed breaths in and out. The only thing you hear is the pounding in your heart and the buzz in your brain, you tell yourself you need to run, run, run. You swerve through the trees, making sure to watch ahead so to not trip and tumble. Your heart stops. There in front of you was the one thing you've been searching for all along, but a hand is suddenly rested on your shoulder... and the music ends.

Two: You take a turn into a dark alley, rats scrambling from the garbage bins that had been placed outside. Searching the long scope of the alley you spot your target, finding that they're blissfully unaware of your presence. You're clad in a dark jacket, and pulling your hood up you follow. Quickly picking up the pace you follow them into an old, abandoned building, creaking from your subtly placed footsteps. The crude smell of rotting food permeates the room as you continue your chase of cat and mouse. A creak is placed near you and you quickly go towards it, your hand wrapping around the gun in your holster. Walking around the wall your heart drops as the cold muzzle is propped up against your head. All you hear is silence after the sound of a gunshot.

This is much darker than I'm used to writing o-o So sorry if you found this unsettling, but the music was so eerie and creepy my mind couldn't help it!
