There exists a treasure that goes beyond its material value—the 2019 Steem Silver Round, an exquisite creation born from the passion and vision of artist Edxserverus. This isn't just a piece of silver; it's a reflection of the profound emotions and connections shared within the Steem community and beyond. Join me as we delve into the heartfelt story behind this remarkable creation.

For Edxserverus, the creation of the 2019 Steem Silver Round wasn't merely a task; it was a journey of the heart. Inspired by the vibrant tapestry of voices and stories that make up the Steem community, he embarked on a quest to encapsulate its essence within a tangible work of art. Every stroke of his keyboard and mouse, and every detail of his design was infused with the warmth and energy of the community that fueled his creativity.

So my question remains - does steem/steemit want or more to the point even deserve a continuation to these amazing works of art, dreamed up by the #steemsilvergold community here on steemit??

Theres no denying that a lot has changed over the years, and that some members have sought pastures new!! But with the wider platform ans help from possibly @steemcurator01 and the like, could we drum up enough support, financially, to get the next steem coin up and running?

Sort:

I missed out on the Silver Rounds back in the day.

What would be involved in making a new one?

First off id probably run a "design-a-round" competition. Open to all steemians here on the platform. The more entries the better, id love to get all of steemit involved.

The competition would run for a few weeks, where each week, the designs(entries) would be wittled down through public voting. Most votes wins.

Once winning design has been chosen, the winner gets to modify design with the feedback of Steemit.

Thats the easy bit......

Then we drum up support - get a feeling for potential sale numbers, so we can work out how many we think we will sell.

Now fundraising starts - if we can get a big donor, or a regular post payout to offset upfront costs then this will really help.

With some funds and design in hand, we reach out to a mint(yet to be decided) and get them to manufacture a dye: front and back. Id like to see us continuing to use the original coin dye, so we would only need to pay for a new reverse dye to be manufactured.

Now we collect payments - silver is currently $25(USD) an ounce. So the rounds would $25 + costs, so $30 approx. But if we can continue to raise funds from posting, then this offsets the final price.

Next its paymet to the mint and wait for the rounds to be made.

Next its receipt of the rounds

Sorting and posting out orders( this bit takes a long time and a lot of individual work)

Thats about it. Not much lol

I wonder what sort of interest there would be.

Do I recall correctly that the previous ones were minted in Canada?

Are there mints in the UK that would do this sort of thing?

Do the previous silver rounds often come up for sale

I spotted these on ebay...

I bought the steem coins, sorry if you were thinking of buying them too

No problem. Enjoy the rounds!

Theres a few european mints that may help and get involved. More chance of getting blood from a stone, or as i say around here an upvote from @steemcurator01, than getting the Royal Mint to mint a stand alone silver round.

Unfortunately, the good Ol' USofA, is the best bet. They have several stand alone mints that would jump at the chance, if the price was right. But then its the cost of shipping from their to here, plus all the VAT and jmport tax to slap on top.

Best and easiest option is to get someone trusted, and willing to help, from the states to step and and finalise the postage and sorting

**As for buying some, the community often have a few for sale. I spotted them too! Im still keepi g my eyes peeled fornthe ones that got stolen in transport from the states to here a few uears back to serfaceon ebay.

Sounds like the logistics could be tricky. There are not so many active Steemians in the US now alas.

Unfortunately not.... i wonder why that happened??!!?? Hahaha

I made a post, and a suggestion the other day, that perhaps a "hand poured" silver round, stamped with a steem/steemit design may be best.

Even I have the potential to knock out a few dozen of them. But should there be a need for a few hundred, I have contacts here in the UK that would take on commission jobs.
