Amalaki or Amlaki (Scientific name: (Phyllanthus emblica) is a herbal fruit of the Phyllanthus genus of the Phyllanthaceae family. Its name is 'Amalika' in Sanskrit. The English name is amla or Indian gooseberry. They are hairless or hairy deciduous trees. Amalaki trees are 8 to 18 meters high. May, deciduous. Light green leaves, compound leaves short, 1/2 inch long. Blond green female and male flowers are borne on the same plant. Fruit light green or yellow and globose, less than 1/2 inch in diameter.
