How did Shiva's throat turn blue according to Shiv Mahapuran
Hello good friends,
Today is Shivratri one of the most serious Hindu religious practices and grand fastival all over India and many parts of the world.
Shiva is most masculine of The deities. I would almost say the infinite masculine principle, at once completely transcendent. infinite compassion for the devotees, supremely compassionate and the special symbol of this is his blue throat. He said to have a blue throat who is called Nilkantha and why is this throat blue?
Well, in Ancient times as the legend goes the gods and the demons got together to churn the ocean of milk, knowing that the nectar of immortality would come up. Out of it and gaining that they would become immortal. But before the nectar came out all kinds of other things came up and finally a terrible poison came up out of the ocean and was going to annihilate all beings. It was such a powerful poison what to do the gods and the demons are going to get killed by this poison. He was Shiva.
Out of compassion drank the poison, but he had the power to stop it in his throat. So his throat became blue and so he's called the Blue throated one and he has saved, the world in that way.
This of course is symbolic of how the Divine absorbs all our impurities, all our faults, all our mistakes, our so-called sins and delivers us to our true Birth right, infinite peace and joy.
