The party of Democrats that have been engaged in daily fights for survival would more than likely wish their own history to be removed. As they have shown their support towards taking down any confederate war related memorabilia as well as attempting to ban any parties that support forms of slavery and hatred, a colleague of theirs decided to use their own bullshit against them.

Using verbiage from their own proposed bill to control the narrative and condemn anything related to the Civil War the Representative from Texas, Louie Gohmert from the Republican party, layed out an over 100 year history of the Democratic party and it's apparent past allegiance to slavery and oppression of the African American . He suggests that due to this large and provable affiliation the Democratic Party should be forced to change their name and or be banned from partaking in legislation.

It is interesting that most of the biggest movements in civil rights were met with objection and force by the Democratic party. Even though it isn't mentioned , I feel we could easily add the War on Drugs to the list of oppression and outright attack on people's civil rights. Those affected the most of course being the 'minority' population. Joe Biden and his Dem party lead the way on things like the Three Strikes Law and heavy mandatory sentencing for small possession of drugs, again hurting those of poor backgrounds and those from heavy 'minority' communities.

This is an opinion piece with some historical context.
