Indiscipline can be explained as a lack of control in the behavior of a group of people. No doubt, indiscipline is rampant and the most noticeable thing in secondary schools today.

There are various causes of indiscipline in secondary schools.
One major cause is a lack of training in children. Most children were brought up without any touch of discipline. They have no regard whatsoever for their parents because right from the start, their parents did not instill values and morals that will enable him\her to function, behave and relate in an acceptable manner. And when such children grows up,they become independent and feels that he\she can do anything without anyone disapproval. As a result, they cannot fathom why in secondary school, someone will have to question them on what they feel like doing.

A second reason is on the part of the teachers, they have their own fault.some of them set bad examples to the students. For instance, when a teacher comes to school late,he does not have the moral right to punish a student who comes late.only when he( teacher) comes early can he call to order the student who comes late. Some teachers also go to the extent of inciting the students against the school authorities. Such a school should not expect discipline from the students.

However, to solve this problem of indiscipline in our secondary schools, all hands have to be on deck.It is incumbent on the part of the parents to put in unreserved and unrelenting efforts to give these young ones total and complete training. A complete training encompasses of moral wellbeing, spiritual wellbeing, social, academic and health wellbeing.when this is done, the child will be nurtured to behave and act well.parents should not also forget to " spare the rod" when necessary for this will spoil the child, waste their potentials which is tantamount to waste of resources.

Teachers on their part should set a good example on the students: whatever they preach to the students must be seen in their own actions. Then the students will learn and probably act in an acceptable way.

The school has its own part to play.Since every secondary school has its own rules and regulations, anyone who decides to disobey these rules should be severely punished as this will serve as a deterrent to any other student who might have been thinking of disobeying the school rules. Also, students who are known of a good behavior should be rewarded so that other student will be encouraged to emulate their good behavior.

No doubt, when all these remedies are considered and put to action, incidents of indiscipline in our secondary schools will be highly minimized.

As a mother, I understand what you're saying. We live in a time when parents don't have much time for children. As a result, they miss out on their children's shortcomings and it is the school that has to make up for their parents' shortcomings. Which I find unacceptable.

I understand you. The school is not doing well on it part.
