Esteem.Life - v0.3 - SSL encryption and payout/reputation filters for custom feeds!

in #steemdev7 years ago (edited)

Things are really coming together in preparation for the beta release of Esteem.Life this Sunday! Today marked a major milestone in the obtaining of an SSL certificate (for $0 thanks to LetsEncrypt and Acme) and fully encrypting site communications. Go to https://esteem.life and see for yourself! The next step in security is to add an additional ciphering script for Steemit keys so that they are never stored in plaintext.

Today I also continued adding options for custom feeds. @liberosist mentioned yesterday that curators are in serious need min/max payout and reputation filters for their feeds, so I made that a priority after obtaining the SSL certificate. Here's a screenshot of min/max reputation in action!

The above feed is made from all posts using the tags "Pizzagate" and "Pedogate", all posts from authors @rebelskum and @richq11 and all limited to reputations between 31 and 100. Min/max payout filters work on essentially the same principle. You'll notice that I also included the post's thumbnail now as well as the correct time of creation.

Now here's some great news: Even with all these filters in place, multiple tabs for feeds and post thumbnails enabled this page only takes 9 seconds to render completely. Now compare that to your single Steemit.com feed which loads in over 20 seconds. Pretty slick, eh?

Here's the current version of the feed creation/editing interface, which I will also note as being really fast. Note that by beta this should look a lot nicer, but the functionality and options should give you some reference for where I'm at currently:

All in all this is shaping up to be an incredible app, and I'm getting more excited by the day to work on it. Thank you all so much for your support and Sunday shall be a fun day indeed!

Fantastic! It should make curation much easier now with the increase of users and posts. Can't wait!

Thank you for the news!

Great work so far!

Brilliant! Can't wait for Sunday! Would love to see more qualifiers in the future. I'm sure you're aware of it, but the UI needs some work with spacing etc.

Thank you for all your feedback so far! Been paying more attention to posts about feature requests and what's missing on Steemit to get ideas, but any suggestions are welcome!

As for the spacing, the UI is definitely going to get beefed up here in the next day or two. I had to prove I could do what I wanted with SteemJS before putting too much into UI or else I could have been wasting a lot of time and effort. I thought ahead so that the markup is in place (divs, wrappers, etc.) and thus it should mostly be a matter of sprucing up the CSS.
