STEEMIT & DISCORD, from April 23, 2018.

I imagine that many have already learned that, as of April 23, 2018, the new law "Open Internet Preservation Law", approved by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the United States, will come into force. the past December 15, 2017.

This new law revokes in two important aspects the Law of Internet Neutrality sanctioned under the Obama administration, namely:

• Internet providers may prioritize, accelerate, reduce, or block the content or flow of data to customers.
• Gives a greater advantage to providers that pay more for bandwidth and streaming.

In this sense, the colossus companies such as AT & T and DirecTV Now, would benefit, while subscribers still have to pay to broadcast Hulu, which would make life more difficult for Hulu and other video streaming competitors. YouTube, DTube, Facebook, Instagram, among others, would also be affected.

Online games, others would be affected, who would have to pay to maintain the necessary width and satisfy their users, which leads to a vertiginous increase in the rent of the service for the ludic.

Discord will not escape to the measure, it is a streaming platform; In this sense, it is worth asking:

What steps will Ned Scott and Dan Larimer take, founders and creators of this innovative social network dating from March 2016?
How will the end of Internet Neutrality affect steemit?
It will negatively affect the cryptomoneda mining; So Steem ...?

I have no answer for this, we have to wait for the implementation of the law passed last December 2017. And therefore, I invite all my readers to translate their opinions in the answers section.

But, what I have noticed has been the change of nomenclature in the plans and services offered by both telephone operators and internet services. I do not know, if in order to deceive the subscribers or not have to sharply increase the income ...

I mean, the plans and data and internet services offered by the operators have been modified from MBps (Megabytes per second) to Mbps (Megabits per second), it seems the same, but it is not.

It is important to point out that the large internet providers are making adjustments without notifying their subscribers. How is this? Well, I clarify the terms:

1 Mb is the same as 1,000Kb (Kilobit) which in turn is 1,000,000b (bits); On the other hand, 1 MB is 1024KB (Kilobytes) which in turn is 1,048,576bytes, and this in turn corresponds to 8,388,608b. Do you see the difference?

The difference is that the operators will offer the internet service with a data flow in Mbps and not in MBps. Computers, PCs, tables, cell phones, etc., handle the weight of the files in MB, and the provider will manage them in Mb .; from there lies why download a 500MB file. It does not download in 10 seconds as we think if we have a contracted 50Mbps plan.

With this device, the operators intend to cover the bandwidth deficit that threatens to impose itself from April 23, 2018.

If I have not explained myself well, I give you an example: Suppose that you, have contracted an X operator service, 50Mbps plan, want to know to what volume I can really download, since from April 23 will be like this: 50Mbps equivalent to 50,000,000bps., divide by 8 to take them byte, we have 6,250.00Bps., to pass them to KB., divide by 1024 and gives us 6,103.5Kbps., and to finish, we pass them to MB., to we divide it again by 1024 and obtain the actual download speed = 5.96MB / s. That is, to download the file of 500MB with a contracted flow of 50Mbps, it would take about 84 seconds and not 10 seconds as we thought. I invite you to make your own measurements.

We will continue to observe the global panorama awaiting April 23, 2018.
