What a wonderful post my friend. I actually remember a couple of rituals. The bedtime story. Mine was "The Little Engine that Could".

And Sunday morning meant church, (which I didn't much enjoy) but it also meant the Sunday paper, and particularly, the Sunday comics. My father sat on the couch between me and my brother. He read every single one to us, but we got to pick the order, each in turn. I learned to read before school in these sessions...
