THE ANOINTING

The New Testament Greek word for "anoint "are chrio, which means "to smear or rub with oil " and,by aleipho, which means "to anoint. "In Bible times,people were anointed with oil to signify God's blessing or call on that person's life Exodus 29:7,Exodus 40:9,2kings 9:6,Ecclesiastes 9:8, James 5:14)

A person was anointed for a special purpose -to be a king, to be a prophet,to be a builder, etc. There is nothing wrong with anointing a person with oil today. We just have to make sure that the purpose of the anointing is in agreement with scripture.

Anointing should not be viewed as a "magic potion". The oil itself does not have any power. It is only God who can anoint a person for a specific purpose. If we use oil, It is only a symbol of what God is doing.

Another meaning For the word anointed is "chosen one ". The Bible says that Jesus Christ was anointed by God with the Holy Spirit to spread the Good News and free those who have been held captive by sin ( Luke 4:18-19,Acts 10:38).After Christ left the earth, He gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit John 14:16.

Now all Christians are anointed, chosen for a specific purpose in furthering God's kingdom 1John 2:20. Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and given us is God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our heart as guarantee 2 conrithians 1:21-22.

What most Pentecostal preachers can be called quickening. Our old Pentecostal fathers call anointing "authority of ease".That is authority to perform with ease. It is the anointing that makes the difference. The anointing differentiates the Christian faith from other religions.

Once you know the anointing, you will never remain the same. You cannot live without it once it has rested upon you. The anointing envelops, it permeates, it electrifies,it empowers.
Anointing is not taught, but is received. The anointing is real;you can feel it just like you feel electricity.
The anointing is not a skill which people learn. It is not a talent, which one may inherit . Neither is it natural ability or oratory or external show or mimicking preaching style or voice or ecclesiastical position or authority or shouting and screaming or good speaking techniques or good education.

The anointing is the central message in the Bible. The anointing open doors that had long been shut and make a man to succeed where others are failing. Every believer who desires to excel in life and ministry is supposed to deeply study, understand and receive the anointing. Every believer requires the anointing for sustenance ,performance, success, breakthroughs and fulfillment. One's success in the ministry depends heavily on the Holy Spirit's anointing his life. Again, the clearest definition of the anointing we are referring to here is given in the book of Isaiah 10:27
" And in the day his burden will depart from your shoulder, and his yoke from your neck; and the yoke will be broken because of the fat."
According to the Bible, the anointing is :
1.The burden removing weapon
2.The yoke breaking power of God
3.The yoke destroying power
Anointing is the most effective and devastating weapon against the burden or the yoke of the enemy

The Bible says :
"The spirit of the Lord is upon me,because he has anointed to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of the sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour. "

The above Bible passage gives us a glimpse of what the anointing can do.
1.preach the Gospel to the poor. The needs the anointing
2.preach deliverance to the captive. The captive need deliverance.
3.Heal the broken -hearted. A lot of people need healing
4.Recover the sight of the blind. The blind to see
5.Set at liberty them that are bruised or oppressed
6.Preach the acceptable year of the Lord
These six points are to be carried out because of the anointing

"How God anointed Jesus Christ of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

Anointing is :
1.Is to be "Godded" with God and "Christed" with Christ
2.The burden removing and yoke destroying power of the Almighty God.
3.The performing hands of God.
4.Divine Energy
5.Divine Speed
6.Divine force
7.Divine push
8.Divine power
9.Blazing fire of the Holy Ghost
10.Performer of Divine Counsel
11.That which makes Spiritual work easier
12.That which changes one into a different person
13.Spiritual ritual for enthronement
14.Being in tune with the Holy Ghost
15.Powwr to do what God has called you to do.
16.To be rubbed, painted or smeared by the Holy Ghost
17.That which provides empowerment for miracles and divine operations
18.Gods provision for overcoming all Spiritual deficiency
19.Gods power on man which enables him to get weatless and sweet results in all his endeavors
20.The presence and power of God.

Anointing is the divine power of the most High God that makes the impossible to become possible.
