A LITTLE SLEEP

One of the greatest books in the bible that is a great motivation to me is the book of proverbs. This is mainly because its content pierce through my very spirit and why this is so, is primarily because its content are not written in ways that cannot be understood but rather, from a very young age, we can easily see the very important nuggets that are contained in it.

But my purpose for this post today is to share with us verses that helps me to be motivated despite the odds

Proverbs 6:9-11 How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest— and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man.

These verses clearly identify some things for us;

• that idleness has no place in our lives if we want to succeed
• that we cannot afford to slack off or take unnecessary stops in our pursuit for our goals
• if we choose to be idle or slack, the consequence will come upon us suddenly and swiftly without warning.

This reminds me of a popular quote that says failure to plan, is a plan to fail but I want to take it a notch further by saying that failure to plan and make visible progress on your plan is an ultimate plan to fail.

While planning is important, a lot of people are fond of planning without carrying out visible actions. They plan and keep adjusting their plans and in the end they get no work done. This is sad and can be very demoralizing to such people. And it can be avoided if we choose to carry out our plan.

BUT HOW CAN WE CARRY OUT/ MAKE VISIBLE ACTIONS IN OUR PLAN

What I will say might be one of the most widely heard reasons but I still think it is underrated
Commit it to the Lord (Pray about it)

Proverbs 16:3 Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.

Yes, this is cliché and very much likely seen by us almost everyday but it does not change the simple fact that prayer is effective when carrying out our plans. We must never underestimate the power of prayer and in all seasons, whether we are in the mood or not. We should have the discipline to pray regardless of our situations in life. God is faithful and he will give us the strength to pursue our goals.

I originally did not plan to write this much about this today but I hope that the little I have shared here would be a able to motivate someone out there.
