THE KEY TO BLESSING IN GENESIS 12 (Abraham)
In Genesis 12, we find the important reason for all this blessing in our lives. Genesis 12 presents a man named Abraham (technically in Genesis 12 he is still called Abram).
This man was a normal guy, who had not done anything particularly special with his life. But God chose him from all the peoples of the world in order to start his plan of glory to rescue the world.
God blessed Abraham. In Genesis 12, God promises Abraham that he will have a large family that becomes a very powerful nation. God will make Abraham's name great. And in verse three, God's blessing to Abraham culminates with these words:
Genesis 12: 3 "I will bless those who bless you and I will curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families of the earth will be blessed through you. "
Blessed to be a blessing for the rest
The last part of this verse explains why God blesses us. He blesses us in order to be a blessing to others.
God did not give you any kind of blessing for you to accumulate for yourself. He wants you to pass it on to other people and help. If you are blessed with a relationship with God, He wants you to share it with others so they can find a relationship with God.
