SANCTIFICATION

The word "Sanctification " is gotten from the word hagiazo which means the separation of things to God, a setting aside for God's use. As believers, we have been bought with the price of the blood of Jesus.
1Corithians 6:20

you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

As such we are to bring glory to God through the way we live. This can only happen through sanctification.

**WHAT IS SANCTIFICATION? **

sanctification is a process whereby a person is totally separated from the world by cleansing of sinful attitudes and habits.
Romans 12:1-2

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

This puts one in a position of communion with God and useful service for God in the capacity of the original creation. (Genesis 1:27-29)
Sanctification is also the setting aside of an individual for Godly use. (1 Corinthians 15:12)

Sanctification is to consecrate, to make sacred for religious use, to make free from sin, to cleanse from moral corruption and pollution. It is a situation whereby a believer is freed from sin empowered to live a holy life. It is a cleansing process beginning from Salvation until Christ is formed in us.
Ephesians 4:13

Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ.

It involves conforming our will, thoughts, emotions and character to that of Christ. It is the basis for holiness and entrance into God's kingdom. (Hebrews 12:14). Through sanctification, a believer begins to reflect the image of Christ.

The origin of sanctification is the Godhead-God, the Father,the son and the Holy Spirit. (John 17:21). The father santifies us through His Word (John 17:17). The son Jesus Christ sanctifies us through His blood (Hebrews 13:12), through the offering of His body (Hebrews 10:10-14) and by His name.

Acts 2:4

All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues[a] as the Spirit enabled them

To be Sanctified, the following are required :

1.) Regeneration : This is the work of God in the life of a believer. Our old sinful nature is taken away and we are given a new nature. Our heart is changes and we who were once sinners become the children of God. It is the level where one gets the life through Jesus Christ.
John 3:3

Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.

2.) Set yourself apart to God. (Roman's 12:1-2)

3.) Submit to the spirit of God as He works in your life. (Galatians 5:16)

4.) Mortify the deeds of the flesh. (Colossians 3:5-10)

5.) Develop a passion for the word of God. (Joshua 1:8)

6.) have a passionate desire for holiness (2Corithians 3:18)

And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate[a] the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

**CONCLUSION **
sanctification is a necessity for every believer. As a result, every heavenly-minded believer that wants to escape the damnation coming upon this world must attain this stage. It is the divine immunity to sin and deeds of the flesh.
Roman's 14:8

If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.
