WHAT IS YOUR WORK?

Esther knelt by her bedside with the intention to pray but her mind kept wandering from one task to the other,her thoughts were encumbered with the tasks she neglected and those she needed to attend to urgently.Suddenly snapping out of her thoughts, she recalled that she had wanted to pray. She sighed heavily and began to talk to god brokenly."Dear Lord,i am sorry for allowing my thoughts to wander away,i really think am losing it this time.You have placed so much in my hands,but i don't seem to be measuring up . i can't seem to get things done....Lord please help me...."

As a wife,a mother of four, a christian worker and a banker, Esther had started out with a grim determination to juggle the responsibilities of the family life,church activities and full -time job and to live a balanced life.she did manage to achieve the feat early in her marriage,but as her family began to grow,she had longer hours working because of hr rapid advancement in the bank.

Her husband complains that she was not giving enough attention to her family,her pastor chided her for not showing commitment in following up the new converts,her boss would not tolerate her for not completing her daily routine. Standing up,she tried to shake off the feelings of frustration and depression. Maybe i need to talk to somebody,she thought aloud,trying so hard not to cry,just then the doorbell rang before she could answer the door ,her husband has already opened the door for Mrs Dora. Mrs Dora is a sweet old lady in her local church,who seemed to endear everyone to herself,Mrs Dora is an epitome of a real christian mother.

As Esther walked into the living room, Mrs Dora and her husband noticed the expression on her face,they stopped chatting and watched her sit on the sofa. Are ok my love said the husband? he moved closer,the net thing Esther bursted into tears "i have had it". i need a break! Flabbergasted at her outburst of emotion,her husband and Mrs Dora looked at each other ,' You need a break from what?" still sobbing she replied from everything -work,family, responsibilities,domestic chores,church activities, i can't juggle them all. I can't meet everyone's expectation,i need to relax and unwind.

Esther's husband was lost in words. in their eight years of marriage he had not seen his wife so depressed or heard such outrageous outburst from her. Mrs Dora smiled and told her to come sit with her. "do you really want to unwind,or you just want to run away from all responsibilities? she asked. Listen my dear running away will not make those responsibilities disappear. They will be right there waiting for you when you come back. Now don't get me wrong it's okay to take some time off but its not ok to shrink from those responsibilities. Have you forgotten proverbs 31,she juggled al these responsibilities,she was a mother,a wife and a business owner yet she shines as a bright beacon.

Esther says the woman in the story sounds like a fairy tale to me,Mrs Dora encouraged her,i understand your plight my dear,don't be frustrated.it is possible to juggle those responsibilities. God created the woman to play many roles and if you ask for his help he will give you grace to successfully combine your roles as a wife,a mother, christian worker and a career woman,don't quit your responsibilities dear says Mrs dora. God has designed you to multitask and you can do it.

Esther is just one of many women who feels frustrated by various roles and responsibilities they have to combine in the home and society.If you are a working mother and christian worker like Esther above ,God knows why you have to combine these roles with those of a wife and mother. He is ready to give you the Grace ,wisdom and strength to cope with demands on you and to successfully juggle your numerous responsibilities if only you ask him.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A CHRISTIAN WOMAN.
i) Helping; The bible describes the woman as a helpmeet for a man.Genesis 2vs18 And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. Some people assume that help meet is necessary inferior but the fact is that Genesis 2vs18 indicates a difference in role,the christian woman is expected to be a trusted helper and a wise counsellor to her husband.

ii) Mothering; The christian woman is meant to nurture her children with the love of Christ,discipline them with care and wisdom as well as teach and train them in the way of the Lord.

Proverbs 22 vs 6
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

iii) Serving; she is to serve her husband ,her family,her friends and neighbors with a gentle and loving spirit. she should be charitable.

iv) Industrious; She must work willingly with her hands to augment the family income and support the home. she must understand that the duties of a wife and mother includes ensuring that her family is well feed. she shouldn't sleep all day but rise before dawn and work diligently to complete her daily tasks.

Proverbs 31 vs 14-16
14 She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.

v) Home-making; she should be careful not to destroy her home with her hands as a foolish woman would do,rather ,she should manage it very well.she must create an inviting atmosphere of warmth and love for her family and guests. she should use hospitality to minister to those around her.

vi) Ministering; she must serve God in various capacities.she shouldn't shun church work and activities with the excuse that she has so much responsibilities at home and office,she is expected to minister to other women.

As a christian woman you should be exemplary ,virtuous and diligent in performing all your God- assigned duties.

How to juggle responsibilities as a christian woman
Efficient multitasking is the ability to switch between tasks without stress and frustration,there are ways you can switch between task and juggle responsibilities.

a)Prioritize your tasks; start your day with prioritizing your tasks into three groups namely tasks you must do,task you should do and task you would like to do.Focus only on the musts and the remaining is icing.

b) Ask for help; Don't go at it alone,identify a family member that can lend a hand and then ask for help. You can ask your husband to assist you in doing some chores (ask nicely),don't also forget to ask God for Grace,wisdom and strength to cope with your responsibilities.

c) Relax a bit; when things go haywire,you should step away a few minutes,once you are calm then you can return your attention to the must list.

d) Don't do too many things at the same time.multi-tasking may feel comfortable but don't over do it.

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
