LIKE A FOOL...(LOVE LIKE CHRIST)
The world today is filled with so called "sharp" or "smart" guys, who has obviously thrived these ways in all their dealings. I for one often times wished i was one, smart, sharp and intelligent. I'd read their stories, follow them on social platforms and even research on their life growing up.
However, i was disappointed to know many paid some ugly dues to be who they must be. Yes, ugly, because they are not out of love and respect for others. But who cares?...these guys are respected and valued!
And so we see a 20 year old man get married to a sick, wealthy 80 year old widow for the cash. I bet his parents and friends would be so proud if he comes home with pockets full of dollars. He's a sharp guy right?
Parenting has become something else. No parent wants to raise their kids in the way of love and God, they seemed to have had enough of the "foolishness", since it brings less food to the table. They prefer to teach their children dubious ways to outsmart their peers on a competitive ground, with all eyes on the prize.
Our comport on political fields or within organisations are somewhat of higher grade of immorality, all in the quest to not been fooled or act foolish. The business transactions and negotiations we involve in knows the same fate.
WHO WOULD RISK BEING CALLED A FOOL?
The dictionary sees a fool as:
a person who acts unwisely or imprudently; a silly person.
Judging by the definition, it is obvious no one would naturally love to play the "fool" role, though at times it is needed to ensure peace, normality, decorum and of course to foster love and respect.
Christ today wants us all to love everyone like a "fool". Or is it not only a fool that will die for the sins of his fellow? As difficult as it sounds vis-a-vis the operations in our locality and our world, we are challenged by Jesus through the Gospel of John, 15: 12-17 to follow his example of love:
JN 15:12-17
Jesus said to his disciples:
"This is my commandment: love one another as I love you.
No one has greater love than this,
to lay down one's life for one's friends.
You are my friends if you do what I command you.
I no longer call you slaves,
because a slave does not know what his master is doing.
I have called you friends,
because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father.
It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you
and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain,
so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you.
This I command you: love one another."
Jesus calls us His friends because he has revealed to us all the secrets of salvation. He taught us in words and deeds, how to live a perfect, peaceful life on earth with Heaven in mind.
"No one has greater love than this,
to lay down one's life for one's friends."
Friends, we are all called and challenged to make our world a better place by constantly striving to live a better and peaceful life. We will agree that the riches and status generated through the "sharp" or "smart" way of life gets us less happiness and fulfillment on the long run.
We must put to check our craving for riches if not done in a manner to promote or foster love. That we play the "fool" role in arguments or negotiations in the name of peace, love and friendship does not mean we won't get to our destination at the predestined time.
Let's eschew violence and crooked ways to wealth, it hurts our neighbors in several ways. Let's decide to be God's powerful instrument of peace, it will heal our world.
Let's act like a "fool", it's the surest way to happiness!
