Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts unto God.
Colossians 3:16

The apostle Paul concludes this verse with the words: "singing with grace in your hearts unto God." I think it is not a coincidence that Paul adds, after instruction and exhortation, to sing to God as a possibility to give space to the word of Christ among us.

Singing songs of praise to God is a direct way to reflect on Him, on the meaning that God has in our lives. The different types of songs remind us of the beauty of God, his glory, his grace, his greatness.

If we sincerely sing to God, then, if only for a brief moment, our worries take a back seat. The accusations and justifications that turn in our head lose their importance because in that moment we look at Christ, at his beauty, at his greatness.

"I do not have a heart for God," even if you consider yourself out of tune. Because no matter how melodious his voice is, the singing takes place "under the impulse of grace", that is, driven by gratitude for God's grace towards us.

I say goodbye in a usual way with this beautiful praise, from the group Hillsong , entitled Jesus I Need You. courtesy of Youtube
