OVERCOMING TEMPTATIONS
By Prayer,Christians can conquer all things. But Sin takes the weapon of Prayer from Our hands.
Sin prevents our Prayers from being answered.
Christians must learn how to overcome temptation, but by God's Grace we can overcome temptations. Let's take some time to ask ourselves some questions.
Can Satan make us Sin? No,he can only tempt is but he can't make us sin.
Is temptation sin? No,it isn't . Jesus was also tempted by the devil . The Bible says that He was "in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin."
When does sin come in? Sin only comes in when we say 'Yes' to temptations.
HOW TO OVERCOME TEMPTATIONS
Count on Your death with Christ: We have been delivered from the kingdom of death by our death with Christ. When Christ died,we died with Him,when He rose we rose with Him. Scripture says "giving thanks to the Father who has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love." Colossians 1:12-13. This simply means that in Christ we have been set free. We can attain freedom from sin by claiming our believe in Christ. The Bible says, "Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts." Romans 6:12
Count on Christ's Life in You: Temptations come from Satan and from ourselves. The Bible says, "each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed." James 1:14. The law of Christ's Life is to triumph over sin. The Bible says, "The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death." Romans 8:2.
Arm Yourself with God's Word:
We already have the Powerful weapon of Prayer which God has given to us but God also gave us another weapon to defeat satan which is His Word. The Bible says, "Take the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God." Ephesians 6:17. Use biblical passages to defeat satan when You're tempted.
- Make no provision for Your Flesh: To overcome temptation , You must not make any provision for Your Flesh. It simply means You must not do anything that will lead You to sin. The Bible says, "Put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfil its lusts." Romans 13:14.
In conclusion, God has given us a wonderful promise in 1 Corinthians 10:13. Every Christian should memorize this verse:
"No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it." So as Christians, we can have victory over every temptation.
