"The potter takes the clay in his hands and molds it and shapes it according to his will. I love it and it works. He tears it apart and puts it back together. It soaks and dries it. He lets it be for a few moments without touching it. When he becomes completely flexible, he goes on with the work of forming a vessel. It gives it shape and on the wheel it refines it and gives it luster. He dries it in the sun and bakes it in the oven. Thus it becomes a useful vessel.
